Rope Marks 101
Pressure
ROPE MARKS
Classic Rope Mark: pink or red indentation where rope tightly pressed
(usually at crest of ankle, side of wrist etc.) If in a line, it looks
a bit like a snake print.
Knot Spot: Pink or red flattened spot of skin where a knot pressed
(usually from lying on it).
Rope marks will fade in five minutes to several hours, depending
on the bondage.
Bruises
Microbruise:
broken red blood vessels just below surface.
Pinch bruise:
a microbruise where the rope pulls the skin into a pinch
and breaks a small red spot of blood vessels.
Tiger stripes:
a microbruise in a line where the rope was (usually from weight
support or suspension).
Layered bruise:
a bruise exacerbated by bondage. The original bruise may be
non-bondage-related. The new area will be red where the
previously-broken blood vessels have leaked new blood.
Adhesion
Tape Gooey:
stripe of adhesive or rubber cement left behind by duct tape.
Can be removed with baby oil.
Tape Fuzzy:
if the gooey is left on, it will attract lint and eventually become
a fuzzy gray stripe.
Abrasion: Rope Burn
Light rope burn:
pink
Medium rope burn:
raw skin
Heavy rope burn:
blood
Captives also sometimes get rug burn from rolling around on
the carpet while tied.
ANY QUESTIONS?
"How do you avoid rope and gag marks after a session is done?
I can't go to work with red lines on my face, wrists and ankles."
If I have to be somewhere after my session, we use torn
bedsheets for the bondage. Even when tied tightly, they
usually don't leave marks... and I use the white medical
cloth tape for the tape-gag; it peels off without removing
any skin.
