Inferiority Feelings

Individuals generally feel inferiority because they perceive that they are lacking in one of the following areas:

• physical condition or limitations,
• intelligence level,
• educational level,
• emotional well being,
• social environment or
• financial condition

The striving for superiority is to overcome or improve one or more of the above areas. Also the feeling of inferiority in one of the areas can be so strong that the individual feels hopeless and fails to even attempt to improve their life. One can also be used to improve one or more of the other areas. For example, a person can strive to obtain a higher educational level in order to improve there social and economic level. In addition, an individual may attempt to compensate for a feeling of inferiority in one area by achieving success or superiority in another area.
